Transportation Manager

Metro Green


The Transportation Manager will work closely with our Metro Green control tower team for all Cannabis Customers, in order to ensure that all aspects of our transportation consolidation program are delivered.


  • Liaise with carriers to determine the best and most cost-effective consolidated transportation solutions for the client
  • Provide client with customized reports, as requested
  • Support Business Development with various growth requests
  • Manage customer relationships and growth – selling additional services
  • End to end customer requests for adhoc services
  • Together with DC operations and client supply chain group, identify supply operational efficiencies and cost savings opportunities through consolidation
  • Utilize network balance capacity tools to determine location of trucks and available customer loads; tailor the plan to meet area needs
  • Understand daily capacity needs/consolidation opportunities and pro-actively communicate to Metro cross-dock operations and appropriate leadership
  • Know and understand the intricacies of operational activities; plan for acceptance of loads
  • Ensure planning & support tools are utilized to assign loads to trucks; ensure customers’ service and security requirements are met
  • Ensure that logistics activities are in compliance with Provincial DC’s and Health Canada regulations
  • Liaise with Customers to ensure proper security protocols are being followed
  • In conjunction with the senior director, analyze carrier performance KPI’s and discuss procedures for service improvement
  • Communicate professionally, effectively, and timely with both internal and external customers/contacts
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations
  • Perform additional duties assigned by leadership


· Minimum of 5-10 years of job experience in similar role

· Minimum of 4 years of logistics experience in a 3PL environment preferred


  • Requires a thorough knowledge of the freight industry, including LTL, T/L, parcel, DSD, Routing and expedited shipments
  • Knowledge of contract and legalities
  • Knowledge of carrier and customer rate tariffs and their application
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office – Excel/PowerPoint
  • Strong Electronic Transportation Management System (TMS) competency
  • Knowledge of TMW would be an asset
  • Ability to plan, think ahead, and prepare action plans to achieve results
  • Requires strong analytical abilities and an approach to problem solving
